Franklin Academy’s policy is to follow Palm Beach District. AT 2:00 PM today, Friday, March 13th, it has been announced school will be closed for a minimum of 2 weeks, or until further notice due to the Corona virus.
The fifth grade team has sent home the needed textbooks and assigned work in case we need to teach from home. For now, they DO NOT have to do any work except to continue the required 45 minutes of IREADY. I will be monitoring their IREADY data as they work through their required minutes while we are closed down.
Students do have an upcoming project on Climate Change and the effects of it on our world, and they can, if they wish, start looking into the field of what interest them, and gathering information from different sources.
Be safe. Feel free to email me with any questions.

ALL students will need to purchase a copy of the text, "My Brother Sam is Dead," by Christopher Collier by March 11th. Try Amazon, Thriftbooks.com, Scholastic, or Barnes and Noble. If any parent can purchase a few extras for those in need, we would greatly appreciate it.

Ben Franklin research projects
Students researched facts about Ben Franklin, wrote about him, then created a poster displaying their research in celebration of Ben Franklin's birthday this week. Having the three, new tablets, really gave the students more time to research and less time waiting to get to a computer!!!What a great job they did!!!!

I recently signed up on "Donorschoose" an award winning funding sight to assist students and teachers with funding for their classroom needs. I am trying to raise money to buy 8 Chromebooks for the classroom to assist our research/communication project with a Cambodia classroom. I have already raised $500.00. If you are willing to donate, please click on the Donors Choose button on the right. I am hoping to have all funds raised by the end of August.
